We’re planning to drop support of all macOS versions older than macOS 12 Monterey in our Mac apps — Macs Fan Control and AnyToISO — soon. If your Mac stays on one of them, nothing breaks: the last version that supports your system will always remain available on the download page (Macs Fan Control, AnyToISO).

Here is how our macOS users are distributed today, according to our latest statistics (October 2026):

Everything older than macOS 12 Monterey adds up to 7.65%, and this number keeps shrinking every month.
The plan
We will do it in one go: new versions of both apps will require macOS 12 (Monterey), so support for macOS 10.7 (Lion) through macOS 11 (Big Sur) ends at the same time. This includes the separate legacy build for macOS 10.7 - 10.12 that both apps still ship next to the main download: it will not get new versions either. In total, the change affects 7.65% of our users.
We are not announcing exact dates yet - consider this a heads-up rather than a deadline.
Why
Every additional macOS release we keep on the list means an older SDK, an older compiler, an older version of the frameworks we build on and real hardware kept around to test on. That is time that does not go into the further development of the apps — support for new Mac models, new features and bug fixes for the remaining 92% of users. Apple itself ships security updates only for the three most recent macOS releases, so most of the systems in the table above have been out of support for years already.
What it means for you
- The version you already have installed keeps working. Nothing is disabled remotely and nothing expires.
- On a system older than macOS 12 you simply won’t be able to update to new versions of the apps, so new features and bug fixes will not reach it.
- New users on a legacy system can always download a compatible version: the download pages (Macs Fan Control, AnyToISO) have legacy download links - exactly as it has been for OS X 10.6 since 2015 and for Windows XP/Vista since 2021.
- Licensing is not affected: already issued Pro licenses continue to work normally on legacy systems, and if you upgrade your macOS later there is no need to buy a new license.
Can your Mac run macOS 12?
Quite possibly - the requirements are less strict than many expect. macOS 12 Monterey can be officially installed on:
- MacBook (Early 2016 or newer)
- MacBook Air (Early 2015 or newer)
- MacBook Pro (Early 2015 or newer)
- iMac (Late 2015 or newer)
- iMac Pro (2017)
- Mac mini (Late 2014 or newer)
- Mac Pro (Late 2013 or newer)
If your Mac is on that list, upgrading is the easiest way to keep receiving updates for both apps.
